The Northern Cape Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (Coghsta) says that it prides itself on being steadfast and resolute in the provision of sustainable human settlements in the province.
This is after the department returned home with three awards from the national Govan Mbeki Awards ceremony held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on Thursday, 9 November.
The provincial department scooped up the award for the best integrated human settlement project for the Lerato Park housing project, for the best accredited municipality, category C, level 2 (the Francis Baard District Municipality) and for the best accredited municipality, category B, level 1 (the Emthanjeni Local Municipality).
Established in 2006, the Govan Mbeki Awards is aimed at recognising outstanding performance in the delivery of housing projects, and encourage and re-enforce a culture of excellence within the housing sector in the delivery of integrated human settlements.
