Fatty Maimela, Bookkeeper in the Finance Department at Gallagher Convention Centre, has grabbed every opportunity to grow and develop herself.

Fatty was first acquainted with Gallagher Convention Centre in 1998 when she started as a part-time cleaner for a supply company, at Gallagher Convention Centre. During this time she was determined to further her education and she worked very hard to obtain a certificate in Computer Literacy and Reception Services, juggling a small child and part-time employment as a single mother.

By 2002 she landed herself a position as an Operations Assistant with one of the tenants at Gallagher Convention Centre.

In 2008, Fatty applied for the position of Accounting Assistant at Gallagher Convention Centre. Having secured this position, Fatty used every opportunity offered to further her studies during her time at Gallagher Convention Centre. She obtained a national diploma in Technical Financial Accounting, a national certificate in Economics and Management and is currently in her second year of studying towards a B.Com degree in Accounting.

Fatty grew from Accounting Assistant to Junior Bookkeeper to Bookkeeper in her 11 years at Gallagher Convention Centre. During her time at Gallagher, she was recognised as the employee of the year in 2016 and received a long-service award in 2018.

Fatty’s journey with Gallagher Convention Centre is one of growth and personal and professional development. During this time she also grew her family and became an integral part of the Gallagher Convention Centre family.
