I have been privileged to be part of the Gallagher Convention Centre team since 2007. My experience has taught me the advantage of becoming a part of the client’s team to ensure the success of an event.
The business of events is nuanced and requires flexibility and creativity, dedication, good work ethic and perseverance.
I have found that successful events often requires having your head in the clouds but your feet firmly in reality. In events, you get to dream up beautiful concepts, exciting ideas, thrilling colour schemes, marvellous menus, and awe-inspiring experiences. But then you have to find a way to practically execute your thoughts while balancing the budget.
Having started my events journey with a background in wedding planning, a multi-function venue with 27 purpose-built venues, such as Gallagher Convention Centre, was both exciting and daunting. Understanding the potential that each of our venues has to become whatever a client envisions for them is thrilling.
I love looking back at the fantastic events that we have had the privilege to host at Gallagher Convention Centre. Gallagher boasts with past events such as Miss World, Oprah Winfrey’s event, FIFA World Cup opening and closing dinners. The Gautrain opening Dinner, SAFTAS, Gauteng Education Departments’ Teachers Awards, GOVTECH, the Cricket and Rugby Awards, My Broadband Conferences and the Car of the Year awards, to name a few. We have been honoured to host a glitterati of public figures on our property.
