Gallagher Convention Centre is turning thirty this year. We are celebrating #ThirtyYearsYoung, by celebrating the people and events that make this venue so remarkable.
Over the last thirty years, special recognition and appreciation for experience and loyalty have been fostered at Gallagher. The result is having the privilege of the input of long-time employees as we look back over the last thirty years.
Moya Laing is one of Gallagher Convention Centre’s longest-serving employees. She shares that the Gallagher team has become a kind of community of sorts. A group of people who are passionate about this venue and its transition from farmstead to 5-star event facility. Laing says that when you have seen a place grow like she has witnessed at Gallagher Convention Centre, you can’t help but become attached to it. “You can’t share this space and interact with this team without it starting to feel like family”.
Steven Moleba started at Gallagher Convention Centre in 1995 as the driver for the company. Steven has been a part of the Gallagher Family for twenty-eight years. He says that once you become part of Gallagher, nothing compares to it. Steven remembers starting at Gallagher when farmhouses still surrounded it. The area has changed quite a bit in Steven’s time at Gallagher.
Our GM: Operations, Vusi Nkosi, has been working at Gallagher Convention Centre since 1997 and is a well-known and familiar face to our clients. He was first appointed to Gallagher Convention Centre as a Receptionist and Switchboard Operator.
Vusi’s is a story of growth as he was later promoted to Assistant Banqueting Manager, then to the position of Banqueting Manager before becoming the Assistant Operations Manager at Gallagher. Vusi held the position of Operations Manager since 2017 before his promotion to General Manager of Operations in 2018.
A devoted team member, Vusi is an experienced event specialist who fondly recalls the high-profile delegates he has been fortunate to work with. Vusi is a true example of the regard for experience, loyalty, and hard work fostered at Gallagher Convention Centre.
