As the centre commemorates its 30th anniversary, it is imperative to acknowledge and celebrate Malaza’s extensive contributions, which are particularly noteworthy during Women’s Month.
Mama Anna’s association with the centre dates back to 1993, when it was first established.
She has progressed within the organisation to become guest relations manager, after serving as a switchboard operator and the main receptionist.
Her passion for working with clients, combined with her warm and efficient approach, made her the perfect fit for the role of guest relations officer, which she held for several years.
Mama Anna has witnessed Gallagher’s transformation from a modest event space to a premier event venue in Gauteng with 27 venues on a 32-hectare property, offering five-star services.
Her interactions with high-profile guests have been some of her most treasured career highlights.
One of Mama Anna’s exceptional moments was when she came to the aid of a guest speaker whose heel broke minutes before her appearance on stage.
Mama Anna fulfilled her role with alacrity, quickly removing her own shoes and giving them to the speaker, thereby ensuring that the event proceeded without incident.
Mama Anna’s resourcefulness and willingness to go above and beyond earned her the Fernando Fontes Award in 2012, which recognises staff members who distinguish themselves during the year.
Her 30 years of unwavering service and her relentless determination to deliver excellence reflect Gallagher Convention Centre’s commitment to its staff and clients alike.
