Every event is rounded off by an unforgettable meal and wine to compliment. To paraphrase Andre Simon; “Wine makes every meal an occasion, every table more elegant…”
When hosting an event, selecting the right wine can potentially prove to be a challenge for event organisers as the preferences of guests differ.
The rule of thumb is a bottle of white wine and a bottle of red wine per table. But which white wine and what red wine will your guests enjoy, and also pair well with the menu that was so painstakingly selected?
Gallagher Convention Centre offers a variety of wines, selected with great care to have the widest appeal and satisfy even the most distinguished wine connoisseur.
Keep in mind that when selecting a bottle of wine for a table, it is not possible to cater to the exact preferences of each guest. Our beverage manager, Kealeboga Morathi, suggests choosing wines for your table with broader appeal while arranging to have options to satisfy more specific tastes available at the bar, to be served at the request of the guests.
The easiest way to select wines for your table is to keep to a simple guide. Choose a medium or light red wine such as a Merlot or light to medium bodied white wine, like a Chardonnay, when serving chicken. Select a Chenin Blanc, which is a light white wine, when serving fish. For a beef dish, a red blend is a good choice. Cabernet Sauvignon or Pinotage are examples of red blends.
Gallagher Convention Centre offers a complimentary food tasting & wine pairing for gala dinners with 250 guests and more.
